new posts

new posts all the way back to June 9. Next to come: Disneyland!

Speaking of Disneyland, Chinnie can't wait! She's most excited about the beach and meeting Mickey. She wants to go on rides with Mickey, watch fireworks with Mickey, go to the beach and have sleepovers with him too. I got some good advice from a friend to make sure she knows Mickey is really big. When I asked her how big Mickey is she indeed thought him to be small.

Currently she is playing with a bouncy ball named Sistow Dea. "Come on Sistow Dea!"

Commandments and more

Dad: Eat your food before you get more juice
Chinnie: Ok dad, I followed your.....commandment.

Bridger really likes to pray and he gets very excited when he can use the words he knows
Mom: Thank you for this day
Bridger: Day
Mom: thank you for cars
Bridger: cars
Mom: thank you for bugs
Bridger: bugs
...night, sky, mommy, daddy, tister, dark, light, and he ends with "Chist" but refuses to even try "Amen"

Chinnie: Did you know Kenna's little brother is a girl?
Mom: Yeah, so she's a sister
Chinnie: No, she's just little. She's not all growed up yet. When she's all growed up she'll be a sister, 'kay?
When I thought about this, every other little baby she knows are boys. The only other sisters she knows are 2 and up.

(roller) skater boy

Bridger loves anything Sister does, but he is really quite good at skates. This picture was taken in July during his first couple of tries. He is now able to go a few feet without even holding on.

PermaGrin... Those cheeks must be getting sore

The kids and I went swimming a few times this summer. Chinnie really enjoys it but it is the definition of heaven for Bridger. This boy has no fear. He will gladly hold your hand and walk as the water gets deeper. It will get higher and higher over his grinning face and he'll keep walking. Pull him up, and sure, air is nice but water is better. He'll lunge forward out of your arms for more.

Just a taste of what's to come

Bridger plays with salt. Bridger gives unwanted milk to mommy. Mommy drinks salty milk. Horrified mom runs to sink to spit.

The pranks come easily to this one.

Unique Language

Bridger has very interesting ways of saying things.
"Drink" is a chugging sound and "sleep" is a snoring sound but sound more like "ah shh ah shh" "numma numma" Give me candy!

Who needs words when sound effects are more...effective.

French Toast

I made a delicious breakfast this morning. The kitchen was delightful with the aroma of Apple Fritter French Toast. The credit was given to Brigham. "Daddy, you smell good"

Quotes

Just before walking out the door for the temple..."are you getting married again?"

***

Chinnie constant chatter in the car with dad ".....bla blaa bla...I love mommy."
Dad "I love you"
Chinnie "You don't speak well."

***

Dad scolds Bridger
Bridger walks away from dad mumbling something full of attitude, turns back around at him, points at him and says, "NAAAAAA!" Proceeds to walk away from father.

***

M: Do you want to be a mom when you grow up? Or a doctor? Or a teacher?
C: I just want to be a kitty cat.
a minute later...
C: I just want to be a mom.

I was chillin' on the couch reading when I hear the microwave open, shut, open, shut. When did he get so big?

Pioneer Day

Pioneer Day is one of our favorite days. We go to Mamah & Bampa's house because they have a cool parade down their street. After Dinner we head over to Buttlerville Days. They have bouncy rides, face painting, animal balloons, clowns, magic shows, and best of all, FIREWORKS!

Chinnie found a loophole in the system, where the ride attendant allowed her to go on the rides many times with no tickets! Meanwhile, I was freaking out because Chinnie was nowhere to be found! I asked the police men for help and called all the family on their cell phones. When we were finally reunited, she had no clue what I was talking about. She stayed right where I left her and was having a good time.

Bridger will have nothing to do with inflatable rides but he and Daddy did find a firetruck spraying water. He got drenched and LOVED it.

The fireworks were totally awesome! It was a 20 minute show, and the kids ate it up. We were almost directly under them and it wasn't hardly even crowded.

My Favorite Smile

B Man has this goofy grin that he uses strictly to get someone to laugh.
Chinnie has to copy Brother.

Another thing that he recently grew out of were his expressive looks where his eyes would get so wide and his mouth would form into a perfect circle. His upper lip seemed to get very long and even the skin between his eyes changed. He would point and make little sounds of awe. I would have given anything to have captured this but the moments were fleeting. I know this is boring to most people but if I don't record it now I might forget it. I just hope this description is enough to trigger the memory. Now that he can say so many words he has no need of this.

Happy Birthday Great Grandpa!

We were lucky enough to spend part of the day with Great Grandpa Hoffman on his birthday. We went to the Living Planet Aquarium, where Bridger was being completely clingy and threw several tantrums, for the first time in his life. But when we went to the park afterward he was back to his happy self. He started doing slides all by himself and Chinnie met a new friend.

Arts Festival

We had an awesome day at the Arts Festival with great friends. The kids made some crafts. Bridger played, got pushed by a random kid, and didn't notice. The kid fell trying. Ha.

Natalynn saw some face painting and it was the first time she'd ever given a tush about it. But she decided she was going to do it and waited in line for over 30 minutes. This is previously unheard of. She saw blue flowers and wouldn't be persuaded for anything else. She was very proud.

Afterwards we took the trax to Gateway mall for some water fun. Bridger LOVED it and the steam was his favorite.

Chinnie thought it prudent to wipe her wet, blue face on the smack dab center of Brigham's bum.

Parents are garbage cans, towels, garbage disposals, and personal assistants in every way.

Another First

The first and only post, not family related, deemed worthy of making it on my family blog, is this actual politician...enjoy.

bonk

Bridger, as most people know, isn't the most careful kid on the block. He often falls on his head and makes it known by saying "bonk"

He still doesn't like to talk much but there are certain sounds representing sorry, thanks, out, bird, and dog- just to name a few.

He's just gotten over the stage where he throws himself down a single stair with his arms straight up. This was always followed by a giggle.

And the strangest thing happened yesterday. We were watching Super Why! and they were talking about the word Brave. Every time a B came on the screen he would say "Bee" (coincidence?) It happened 3 times.

mannequins

I haven't taken Chinnie to the mall since she can remember but I took her about a month ago to Forever 21. They have these great mannequins all over the place and she was in awe. At first she just looked at them in wonder, never touching. Soon she reached out a hesitant hand, glancing up at me to see if it was ok. I told her it was and she touched a toe. Then on to the next, she ventured further. Pretty soon she was running up to each one and feeling up their legs to uncomfortable heights. It was embarrassing to say the least.

Tonight I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic with some friends including Chinnie's sunbeam teacher, the famous "Sistow Dea" and I wished I would have taken her. She would have been in heaven with her favorite teacher, watching mannequins come to life.
