It's Potty Time!

Brigham and Natalynn went shopping for a new potty. Natalynn picked one out that sings, talks, plays music and lights up. When they got home and put it together Natalynn peed the second time she sat down on it! Brigham and I just looked at each other in shock. We did the potty dance and called the grandparents to brag.

All this was so wonderful because yesterday she had at least seven accidents. We'll see if this keeps up. It's a lot of work for mommy too.

Cute Kids

Bridger is learning to laugh. It really sounds quite funny. He is the smiliest baby I ever saw.
I am actually sitting here waiting for him to wake up and it's almost 8 am! He went to bed at 10 and slept all night. What a baby!

Natalynn has a new thing she likes to say lately, "I'd like to apoligize." I don't know where she got that from and she says it randomly to her toys but it's dang cute! And she says it so clearly. When she tries to say Eyore, as in Winnie the Pooh, it comes out, "he hoor" or "hor hee."

Natalynn's prayers are so cute but always the same. "Thanks today, Jesus, AMEN!" Sometimes she adds "papapapas" which means either sets of grandparents, if she saw them that day. Now if only she wouldn't interupt our prayers with hers.

Is that baby still alive?...

Cats and Frogs

Natalynn LOVES when I pretend to be a cat. She gives my face the tightest hugs that I think my glasses are going to break. Sometimes she reads to her cat, but her favorite thing is to run away and make the cat cry for her. Then she runs back saying, "It's OK, it's OK."

Well, today, when the cat was visiting she started to poop in her diaper and the cat coached her into the bathroom and she tried to go in the potty. It was her best effort yet!

The only animal she will pretend to be is a frog. But she is the cutest frog you ever did see!

Random Happenings

I was making a smoothie in the blender today when Brigham asked Natalynn what that noise was. She responded, “Mommy making noise.” When I turned it off she said, “Mommy making quiet.”

We use the phrase “nice and clean” and “nice and warm” with Natalynn. Lately she has been making up her own: “nice and better” and “nice and good.”

I was sitting at my computer today listening to Natalynn jabbering in her room. She has this chair she carries around. I heard her say, “ Chair in time out…chair in corner” I asked her, “Was the chair naughty?” She said that it was.

We all wonder what babies think about. Well, I think I have a pretty good idea of what Bridger thinks of when he sees his sister. He was propped up on the couch the other day and saw Natalynn from across the room heading toward him. He immediately started squinting. He was right: when frizzy-hair-girl comes, protect the eyes. She came and gave him loves and hair did get into his eyes.

Bridger has had his share if pinches, squishes, and eye-pokings, but the only time he has ever cried because of Natalynn is when she touches his bare skin with icy cold hands.

Outyet

Natalynn and I were eating a bedtime snack when she kept looking at the wall behind her saying, “baby… baby crying…two babies…be happy baby” so I played along and said hi to her new imaginary friends. When she finished eating she got off the chair and crouched down, looking at the outlet. Yep, an outlet really does look like a baby’s face! I told her it was an outlet and she said “Hi baby outyet, don‘t cry.”

Bridger Meets Grandma Hoffman

Grandma Hoffman hasn‘t been doing very well lately; Hospice told us she would only be with is for a few weeks. We all went to visit them, although Grandma has only been sleeping and not moving or responding to anyone. When we placed Bridger next to her she opened her eyes to look at him. She touched his hands, feet and belly. He was, in her eyes, the only person in the room. She even kissed his head twice! The only thing she said during the visit was, “Oow, that hurts” when Natalynn bumped her feet. Bridger did very well and stayed happy for a good twenty minutes. When he did finally cry we tried to move him to feed him and Grandma wouldn’t let go of his little fist. After that she went to sleep but it was great while it lasted.

Daddy Daughter Date

Brigham and Natalynn went on their first date today. They went to Arctic Circle for a kids meal and got an easter bunny with it. Natalynn had fun in the play area too! Brigham was very excited to start this tradition and decided it would be the first Thursday of every month.

Two weeks later Natalynn and I had our first "girl time" outing. We went shopping, bought churros, and went to a pet store just for fun. She especially enjoyed looking at the mouse that was trying to push the wood shavings out of it's house.
